Riding Along Kagoshima Bay
#4 The Limited Express Kirishima

Usually, my trips are not this busy. I’m starting to feel tired – no, I am tired. I barely slept last night, left for the airport at dawn, took an early morning flight, then a bus to Kirishima Jingu. Now I just want to get to my hotel and rest. Let’s hurry to Kagoshima! From the bus stop at the Kirishima Jingu rotary,I took the bus down to Kirishima Jingu Station. Outside the window, it was pure countryside –a narrow road through the woods, scattered houses, and almost no people in sight. After about fifteen minutes, I arrived at the…

Thai–Vietnamese Lunch at the Japanese Shrine?
#3 Café Somokuto

After finishing my visit to Kirishima Jingu, I walked back down to the rotary. When I checked Google Maps, I noticed several restaurants nearby. There was still some time before the next bus to Kirishima Jingu Station,so I decided it would be a good idea to use that time for lunch. There is Kirishima Jingu Station nearby, but buses run very infrequently, and the last one leaves quite early. So I had been thinking that someday, when I rent a car to drive around Kagoshima Bay, I would finally visit the shrine then. While planning this trip, I found out about the Kirishima Jingu Access Bus. It runs from Kagoshima Airport → Kirishima Jingu → Kirishima Jingu Station. There are only three…

Departure to Kagoshima!
#1 Departure

Before my Korean Air mileage expires, I decided to use it up. And since I wanted to spend my birthday somewhere other than home,I booked a flight to Kagoshima. The destination is Kagoshima —my hottest travel spot these days. It’s a place full of fresh seafood, and everything from beef to pork to chicken tastes amazing. Especially the rich, nutty flavor of Kagoshima Kurobuta pork — I can’t resist it. Another reason I like Kagoshima is thatI’ve already been to most of the famous tourist spots. So this time, it’s all about relaxing, and just wandering around to eat good food. Since…
